NeoCon Commercial Design Conference
Chicago, illinoisNeoCon has been the biggest name in commercial interior design since 1969, and this year we didn't just show up, we built something people wouldn't stop talking about. Four hundred plus companies filled the floor with new products and slick displays. We went a different direction: polka dots. Just circles, actually, a whole wall of empty vinyl stencil circles waiting to be filled. We handed attendees paint markers and stepped back. Someone drew a self portrait in one. Someone else turned theirs into a tiny landscape. By the second day the wall wasn't ours anymore. It belonged to whoever had touched it.
When we peeled the vinyl off, each circle came out clean and separate, but the whole wall still read as one piece. People kept telling us it felt different from everything else at the show, calmer, less like a pitch and more like a break. Attendees started calling it their favorite booth of the year, and that reaction has already turned into real conversations since, new projects, a couple of partnerships we're still working out.
