Evolve Collaborative

Portland, Oregon

Evolve Collaborative commissioned this mural to celebrate the people, history, and businesses that have shaped Portland's Alberta-Concordia neighborhood for generations. They wanted the building to feel like it belonged to the neighborhood, not to the agency inside it.

The concept centers on hands, the many ways they build connection: working, planting, playing, greeting, gathering. The illustrations are small and playful, the kind of detail you only notice if you slow down. Together, they turn a plain exterior wall into a landmark that feels like the neighborhood itself: warm and a little playful.

The mural also carries pieces of the building's history. It references the family-owned businesses that ran out of this space over the last century, drawn from archival research and old photographs. The finished piece sits at the meeting point of past and present, the same stories and relationships that shaped this corner of Portland still define it today.
